Taris: The Architect of Anihilation

Located in the Ojoster Sector of the Outer Rim Territories, Taris was an ecumenopolis founded at the nexus of several hyperspace trading routes. Prosperity led to a rapid population increase and a continued vertical expansion of the planet-wide urban sprawl. But with the discovery of superior trade lanes elsewhere, Taris' economic fortunes changed for the worse.
For the wealthy nobles living in the upper floors of the towering skyscrapers, Taris remained an urban paradise. As one descended, however, the standard of living dropped precipitously. Aliens and refugees were forced to live in the city's lower levels, supporting the upper classes both literally and figuratively. Near the surface, violent swoop gangs held sway over a terrified civilian populace beset by poverty and famine, and the sewers of the undercity were infested by strange beasts called "rakghouls".
Three centuries ago, Taris was bombarded by the Sith Lord Darth Malak and left a toxic ruin. The years since have not been kind to the world, and vegetation and animal life struggle to gain a foothold in the shattered skeleton of a planetary metropolis.
The Republic began to recolonize Taris less than a decade ago, and has suffered innumerable setbacks - everything from pirate attacks to the strange "rakghoul plague". Nonetheless, the reconstruction effort continues, its proponents determined to prove that the Empire can never truly destroy greatness.

"I apologize for the secrecy, but this involves someone the Empire would love to get their hands on" in the holo, Var Suthra shifted nervously. "Tarnis was the leader of our advanced warfare projects' team, but these technologies were all invented by Doctor Nasan Godera."
That made the Jedi raise a brow. "So, the question is, what's Doctor Godera doing on Taris?"
"Doctor Godera is a genius: he calculates targeting algorithms in his head for fun. But he also hates the Empire so much he quit in protest when we signed the Treaty of Coruscant, and disappeared completely."
"And you discovered he is hiding here" neither Idilan or Kira added anything about the Republic's inability to keep secrets, but it was implied on their faces.
"Yes. But the swamps, predators, and city ruins have been preventing us from finding out exactly where."
"It's been three hundred years since Darth Malak bombarded the planet during the Jedi Civil War; if Taris has been left abandoned, it would be a good hiding place."
"The Republic has been recolonizing Taris; exploration teams found an automated outpost in the swamps, evidence that our missing doctor has been hiding here for some years at least. But, the droids are not cooperating - they demand clearance codes to release any information on Godera's location."
"After what we learned on Ord Mantell, we need Godera's expertise: he might be the only one able to unravel Angral's plans and defeat the stolen weapons."
"You are our best shot at finding Doctor Godera. If anyone can make him show himself, it has to be a Jedi. I transmitted the coordinates of the outpost to you, but it might be better to land at the Resettlement zone and travel by speeder from there. We have no idea how the outpost's systems will react to an armed spaceship. I'll alert the recon team to be waiting for you."
"So, how are we doing this?" asked Kira after the General disconnected the call.
"You're coming with me to the outpost. Teeseven, take us down and start monitoring communications; be ready to come provide air support if we need it."
The droid whistled and beeped in acknowledgment; Idilan led the way to the bridge, checking his equipment one last time while the ship descended into the planet.
